In digging through the support section of the Amarra Music Player web page, and finally ending up on the FAQ, http://www.sonicstudio.com/amarra/faq.html I came upon this :Supported Audio FormatsNOTE: Amarra only supports uncompressed PCM files (AIFF,...

Thanks to both of you for your responses; I didn't know of this software. Very intersting... I'm definitly going to download the demo trial and see how it compares. Probably won't get to it before the weekend; I whipped myself into an all-night OCD l...

I did a search on "best sounding version of itunes" and found the following :Posted 02-23-2009 on the AudiogoN forum - Ehider wrote :"...there have been slight variations in the sound of iTunes. Some of the updates (but not all by any means) actually...

Is it possible that there are better and worse sounding versions of iTunes?Since 2004 I've been using iTunes together with a Mac computer and the very addictive Wavelength Cosecant DAC as the main source "component" in a system consisting of horns dr...

As things stand today, I believe that the biggest gain in quality is not to be had via the pursuit of higher resolution formats.A friend of mine who works for a large media distribution business (like Amazon) recently gave me a bunch of sample CD...

So, I stopped by the place that sold me the "semi-cured" rubber sound insulation to get a product reference. The dude wouldn't give me any info, only that he could get as much as I need, and ship it anywhere (welcome to France!).

http://www.cascadeaudio.com/marine/vb_1x_damping_compound.htm After reading the tech notes on VB-1X, I have difficulty with the manufacturer's claim that the product is effective at damping frequencies down to 10Hz, when at the same time they specify...

Hello D,Its sold by the meter, and has no packaging, so there was no name to note; I do remember that it came from Spain. Could not find any info on the net, however, I often pass by the place that sold it to me, so will stop in and ask. Hope they st...

Seems totally doable to me; you'd just need 12 and 5 volt DC output having adequate current delivery, and a few Molex connectors.
Having said that, I notice no difference when switching to battery when using a laptop model to run the external driv...

Here's what I would do.In general :Start by excluding the DPoLs, excluding the electronics and associated gear, and considering just the room. With no electronics functioning, is the room an acoustically pleasant space ? Invite friends over and ...

Apologies, posted to quickly; should have written the following :
You may then perceive that the music starts up much more instantaneously THAN IT DECAYED when cutting off the source of sound (pausing)....

If you discover the decay seems quick, try comparing it to what happens when pressing the resume/play button. You may then perceive that the music starts up much more instantaneously than when cutting off the source of sound (pausing).

Just realized that the drawing I attached was "dimensioned" in mm (this is why some of the numbers are carried out to four places after the decimal point). Here's the same drawing in inches.

For centering :
The thickness of the ring that clamps the "bug screens" is around 3mm; in other words, there is a very short (+-3mm deep) "horn" in front of the screen. This allows one to center the driver using a metal (or hard material) tube or...

My understanding : This is simply what's left of the original Vitavox. The original founder had an interst in quality audio; the current owner(s) seem to have an interst in government contracts ($?). I'm not sure, but seem to remember that the curren...

Decoud,Though I have a pair of 8Ms, I did some searching around for alternatives just to make sure I couldn't find something "better".Its not really a kosher approach, but my research was centered on vintage alnico drivers, origin...

JP, Start with a rear chamer having a volume a bit larger than you think you will really need (calculate rear chamber volume to get you in the ball park; for this you will need the driver's tech data). From there you can tune the chamber volume by in...

I should add that disconnecting the "ground" wire as mentioned above will most likely not solve the issue.
It will likely also be necessary to ground the chassis of the components directly (to a nearby water pipe for example).

More dime store theory here :
With regard to LF : At the onset of a period of audio silence, in a larger space, the relatively long LF waves are likely to remain present (reverberating?) for a longer time than HF and MF.
